The Lake Region of the Pocono Mountains has been a popular vacation destination for many decades offering more than 100 lakes, streams, creeks, rivers and ponds with opportunities for boating, sailing, fishing and swimming, as well as thousands of acres of woods filled with an abundant variety of wildlife. For the outdoor enthusiast, you can enjoy everything that the four seasons has to offer.

The Lake Region surrounds stunning Lake Wallenpaupack, a man-made lake built in 1927 covering 5,700 acres and 13 ½ miles in length with 52-miles of uninterrupted shoreline. Its activities are as endless as its shoreline and are sure to please the whole family as you play the day away. The lake has six public recreation areas featuring hundreds of acres of forest lands, wildlife, walking trails, campsites and boat slips. Outfitters also offer paddleboats, jet skies or boats to help you make the most of your experience.

Whatever the season, the Lake Region has a special appeal. Visitors to this region will want to venture through a wild animal park, play a round of golf, ride the rails of history or even try horseback riding. Dining in the Lake Region offers something for every taste and budget with tempting menus. After dinner, be sure to explore the region surrounding the lake, especially the nearby recreational cooking school. Stroll through the nearby towns of Hawley and Honesdale for quaint shops and rare antiques.

WATERSPORTS such as canoeing, rafting, jet skiing, water skiing, row boating, and swimming can help beat the heat! For a more laid back experience, relax on a beach or splash around in one of our numerous streams, creeks, rivers, ponds and lakes.

FISH for "the big one"! Hooking a "striper" has become a great challenge since the stocking of Striped Bass began at Lake Wallenpaupack in 1981. Striped Bass are nearing the 40-pound class.  The variety of fish and number of fishable waters provides an opportunity for "fisherfolk" of all ages and abilities to enjoy this sport.

GOLF championship courses with pristine greens along the natural contours of of mountaintop locations and stretches of lush valleys.  

DINE traditionally on delectable dishes for every taste and budget with varied and tempting menus featuring local favorites ie. smoked Blooming Grove trout, Italian specialties, award winning wings, family friendly barbeques.  Dockside dining allows you to enjoy you favorite summer dish after an action filled day on the lake.  Our downtowns are great spots to relax at one of the many sidewalk cafes.

EAGLE WATCH along the Upper Delaware and Recreation River and the Lackawaxen River whenever the waters are not frozen, as these areas provide an ideal habitat with clean water and undisturbed land with lots of food and large trees in which these majestic creatures roost, perch and nest.

HIKE more than 125 trails, including natural areas maintained by PPL Corporation..a great opportunity for bird watching, photography and awe-inspiring scenery.

SNOW SPORTS such as snowshoeing, snowmobiling, icefishing, downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snow tubing and horse-drawn sleighs beckon in the winter season and will warm up any chilly day.

WATERFALLS provide the perfect backdrop for that Pocono postcard. Visit Shohola Falls or Raymonskill Falls for that breathtaking experience.

FORESTS & PARKS  offer four seasons of recreation among the miles and miles of natural areas including Promised Land and Prompton State Parks; The Delaware State Forest; the Upper Delaware; and hundreds of acres of state game lands.  These parks aer a preservation of land perfect for hiking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, camping, swimming and picnicking.

HISTORICAL opportunties abound.  Explore historic Honesdale and White Mills and the village of Hawley along the Lackawanna River.  In Lackwaxen you can visit sites such as the Zane Grey Museum and the Roebling Bridge, created by John Roebling, designer of the Brooklyn Bridge.

EDUCATIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL programs offered year-round.  PPL's Wallenpaupack Environmental Learnging Center affords nature enthusiasts the opprotunity for hands-on study of Lake Wallenpaupack and the surround environment.  Environmental programs are offered to the public year-round including birds, wildflowers, wetlands and watersheds, endangered species and hunting and fishing education

DO 6!  Named by National Geographic as "One of America's most scenic drive", US Route 6 in Pennsylvania is the heart of the American Dream.  The Harley-Davidson Company also selected it as Pennsylvania's Best Tour Road.
